The name Shongololo ("millipede" in Zulu), was given to the first trains in East Africa by the indigenous people. When viewed on the horizon, the train resembled the movement and length of the Shongololo. The Shongolo express is called also the "rolling Safari hotel". A sixteen day railway adventure across South Africa that offers the first time visitor an easy and convenient way to sample all that the Rainbow Nation has to offer. The itinerary featured here is southbound, which you can simply reverse for northbound journeys. Lots of History and wildlife await you on this unforgettable journey. We are confident that a trip on any of our trains will be a memorable experience.

Desert Express, Namibia's Unique Rail Experience. Desert Express differs from other tourist trains in that it is highly modern, featuring all the conveniences and luxury a traveller could ask for, while maintaining friendly Namibian hospitality and excellent service. Other trains that run in the Southern African region are generally "antique trains" that have been refurbished. Sit back and enjoy the view in our Stardune Bistro, or admire the Namibian night skies in the Starview Coach. Desert Express also caters for corporate charters and short functions (such as sun downer trips, cocktails, presentations, conferences and product launches).

Bushveld Train Safari's has been a leading fun experience in South Africa for more than ten years. Bushveld Safari Tours are fun, with lots of flavour. The need for affordable train holidays in a relaxed atmosphere was recognised by an ex-teacher, Boon Boonzaaier, who started Bushveld Train Safaris to fill the gap. First class mainline coaches and sleeping compartments are hired from Spoornet to tour scenic parts of South Africa. An excellent opportunity to meet the people, see the country - often off the usual crowded tourist tracks- and enjoy an affordable vacation. Meals are of a very high standard. Menu's generally consist of traditional South African food.
